Aaron Rodgers To The Jets?

It seems like Aaron Rodgers is destined to end up with the Jets. He is currently a Packer, but I fully expect him to join Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, and former teammate Allen Lazard. In fact, Jets G.M. Joe Douglas has already taken it upon himself to publicly say that Rodgers will be in New Jersey before the start of the season. After a subpar season with Zack Wilson at the helm, it’s time for the Jets to upgrade to a more experienced quarterback. However, the Jets should act fast because if Aaron Rodgers does not join the Jets or if they cannot come to an agreement, the Jets will certainly suffer.

Likely Aaron Rodgers Trade Scenario

As it stands, the Packers aren’t pressed to trade Rodgers. Sure they will be happy to strike a deal, but that doesn’t mean they have to. Green Bay has enough cap space to go ahead and carry the same contract he had last year. Obviously, Aaron Rodgers won't start this year since the Packers have gone all in on Jordan Love. So paying Rodgers 60 million to ride the bench may seem tough to comprehend, but unless Green Bay gets the best deal possible they will likely hold out. The Jets, on the other hand, need Rodgers way more than the Packers do.

In my opinion, Aaron Rodgers is worth a second and third-round draft pick at best. The Packers likely understand how much the Jets need a QB. Therefore, they will probably try to get something much greater than a couple of picks out of the deal. But just how desperate are the Jets? It is unwise to give up too much for Aaron Rodgers. If I had to guess, he only has a couple of seasons left in him, and even that’s pushing it. Whatever the case, we should see a trade unfold shortly. If the deal goes on without a hitch and without the Jets having to give up too much, we should be seeing a much more productive season for gang green.

How Well Will Aaron Rodgers Perform?

I think Rodgers will fit well within the Jets organization. He will be surrounded by fresh young talent. Something that is needed to make up for his age. The performance of Rodgers was quite strong despite a "down year" according to some. He finished the season 11th in passing yards with 3,695 YDs and 7th in passing touchdowns with 27 TDs. This would place him at least in the top-ten category. With offensive weapons like Garrett Wilson, Mecole Hardman, and former teammate Allen Lazard on the Jets, Aaron Rodgers should have plenty of targets to hit throughout the season.

Furthermore, the Jets have lots of room to grow on defense. They didn’t have the stoutest defense last season, but the potential was there. With CB Sauce Gardner winning the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, there is a lot to look forward to for Jets fans.

Additionally, Breece Hall, who tore his ACL in week seven last season, is expected to return. Through 80 attempts, Hall rushed for 463 yards, four touchdowns, and no fumbles. This will only add to the firepower the Jets have on offense. Last year the Jets had a record of 7-10. If we see Rodgers in New Jersey next season, we could see the Jets go .500 and maybe even have a real chance at a winning season. Keep in mind, the Jets haven't had a winning season since going 10-6 in 2015.

The potential trade of Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets could significantly impact the upcoming NFL season. While the Packers are in no rush to trade their star quarterback, the Jets desperately need a more experienced player at the position. However, only time will tell if this trade will come to fruition. Nevertheless, it's an exciting prospect for Jets and Packers fans alike.
