5 Fantasy Sleepers To Put on Your Radar

The 2023 NFL season will be here before we know it, and it’s never too early to start building your fantasy tiers. The key to winning any fantasy league is to take the middle and late rounds seriously. As we know, fantasy football is a game of inches. Adding these five sleepers to your tiers may be what you need to take your team to the playoffs and beyond. In the NFL, injuries happen. Having these players as your backup should prove to be a wise decision.

These players may not be the most prominent names or the flashiest picks, but they have the potential to provide value and make a significant impact on your team. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the world of fantasy football, it's imperative to do your research and identify sleepers that can give you an edge. In this article, we'll take a closer look at five sleepers who could make a big difference in the 2023 fantasy football season. So, without further ado, let’s dive in and see who you should consider adding to your tiers.

1. RB Rashaad Penny

Rashaad Penny, the former running back for the Seahawks, has joined last year’s Superbowl runner-ups. In 2022, Penny ran for 346 on 57 attempts, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. The Eagles signed Penny on a one-year deal for $1.35 million —a steal, in my opinion. Penny suffered a season-ending ankle injury and fibula fracture in week five’s loss to the New Orleans Saints. The week prior, he had a monster game scoring over 28 fantasy points. Despite his injury, the Eagles are confident in Penny's ability to contribute to their team in the upcoming season. If Penny can stay healthy, he has the potential to be a key player in the Eagles' offense and provide a much-needed spark in the running game. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles utilize Penny's skill set.

Furthermore, Rashaad Penny’s ability to hold onto the rock is a valuable asset for any team. He has only had two fumbles in his career, which is impressive considering his number of carries. In addition to his ball security, Penny is known for his explosiveness and agility, making him a threat in the run game.

With his size and speed, he has the potential to break big plays and change the momentum of a game. If he can stay healthy and maintain his ball security, there's no doubt that Penny could be a game-changer for fantasy football managers. This is especially true for those in deeper leagues. That is if he can get a solid snap share. Philly has also signed D’Andre Swift from Detriot. That said, we might have another Swift vs. Williams situation on our hands!

2. WR Rondale Moore

Rondale Moore is entering his third season with the Arizona Cardinals. Standing at only 5’7, don’t let his height fool you. Had it not been for injuries last season, the WR out of Purdue could have been a solid WR 3. Moore was more of a volume target this past year. However, With the new addition of offensive lineman Paris Johnson Jr. Cardinals QB Kyler Murray could have the protection he needs to set Moore up with big plays.

During weeks 8-10 last season, Rondale averaged nearly 11 fantasy points per game. If Arizona trades their WR1 Deandre Hopkins, Rondale Moore could see more opportunities come his way. Nevertheless, Rondale Moore is a versatile and explosive player with quickness and agility. At only 23 years old, he has the potential to become a reliable option for the Cardinals and a fantasy football sleeper for the upcoming season.

As he continues to develop his skills and gain more experience at the professional level, there is no telling how high his ceiling could be. With a solid offensive line and the potential for more targets, Rondale Moore could be poised for a breakout season in 2023.

3. TE Greg Dulcich

During the 2022 NFL season, we saw a massive drought in the tight end position. Unless you had Travis Kelce or George Kittle on your roster, there wasn’t much to work with. If your fantasy draft leaves you lacking in the TE end position, consider picking up Greg Dulcich from the waiver wire. During his rookie season last year, we saw glimpses of what the Broncos TE can do. He racked up over 400 yards through ten games and averaged 12.4 per reception. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury got in the way of his season last year.

With Denver picking up veteran tight end Chris Manhertz from free agency, Dulcich could see a drop in playing time during the upcoming 2023 NFL season. However, Dulcich has shown intriguing long-term upside as a pass-catcher and will continue to develop as a player. Therefore, he remains an interesting bench stash option for fantasy drafts in 2023 and beyond. Who knows? Dulcich may surprise the Denver coaching staff and earn a more solidified spot on the roster.

4. RB D'Onta Foreman

With Christian McCaffrey being traded to the 49ers, it was now up to D’Onta Foreman to step up for the Carolina Panthers. Last season Foreman rushed for 914 yards and found the endzone five times. Apparently, that wasn’t enough to keep him on the Panthers roster. Foreman has since been traded to the Chicago Bears, where he must compete for the starting position with Khalil Herbert.

According to the ESPN depth chart, D’Onta is in line to be the starter during the 2023 season. Last year Foreman had five games where he broke the 100-yard mark. His biggest game was back in week eight against the Atlanta Falcons, where he scored 31.8 fantasy points. Although Foreman put up some big numbers, he also had more than his fair share of down games. From week seven to week 18, D’Onta Foreman had four games where he had less than four fantasy points.

At any rate, Foreman's performance in the 2022 season demonstrated his potential to be a productive running back in the NFL. With the opportunity to compete for the starting position in the Bears' backfield, he will have a chance to prove himself once again. Despite the competition with Herbert, Foreman's status as the current starter on the depth chart indicates that he is in a strong position heading into the 2023 season.

It's worth noting that consistency was an issue for Foreman last season, as he had several low-scoring games. However, his ability to break the 100-yard mark in five games and put up big fantasy numbers shows his potential to be a valuable asset in fantasy football. If Foreman can improve his consistency and secure the starting role in Chicago, he could be a valuable pick in 2023 fantasy drafts.

5. RB Rachaad White

Rachaad White’s 2022 rookie season was a solid one. By catching 50 out of 58 targets, he joined the ranks of only 11 rookie RBs in the last decade who caught 50 or more passes. This demonstrates that his aptitude for catching passes, which was apparent during his college career with the Sun Devils, has carried over into the NFL. With RB1 Leonard Fournette being released from Tampa Bay, it’s clear the organization is all in on White.

The now second-year RB is destined to have a breakout season as the Bucs will most likely be a run-heavy team. In PPR leagues, his catching ability could be a valuable asset for fantasy football managers. He will likely receive a significant amount of targets from quarterback Baker Mayfield. With Fournette no longer in the picture, White can establish himself as a lead back and showcase his well-rounded skill set. His ability to catch passes out of the backfield, coupled with his impressive running abilities, makes him an excellent sleeper pick.

Rachaad is no stranger to competing for the starting position. He beat out Leonard Fournette last season. He will have to prove himself again this season, as the Buccaneers have picked up Chase Edmonds from Miami to help fill the void in the backfield. White is undervalued in many rankings and could be an excellent pick in later rounds. With his upside potential, he may bring a league-winning performance to fantasy football managers who draft him.
