Where do the Buccaneers Go from Here?

It’s official, TB12 is no longer in the NFL. Well, at least that’s what he says. After 23 years in the NFL, the seven-time Superbowl winner is hanging up the cleats at age 45. So where does this leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next season? While there are plenty of outstanding prospects in the free agency market, the Buccaneers simply do not have enough wiggle room to pay for a top dollar Quarterback. Tampa Bay is projected to be 55 million dollars over the salary cap in 2023. Therefore, options are slim. So why not give Kyle Trask the chance he deserves?

However, rather than solely relying on the 2021 second-round draft pick out of Florida, I think it’s worth considering Anthony Richardson. He’s got a huge arm and the athleticism to go along with it. I’d love to see him and Trask battle it out for the starting QB position unless Tampa Bay can secure Daniel Jones, Jimmy G, or Baker Mayfield from free agency.

Anthony Richardson and Kyle Trask are young and could develop into something big for the Buccaneer's future. Although it certainly would be better to invest in a quarterback who could take the franchise all the way. Tampa Bay certainly has the intangibles to do so. In my humble opinion, a more mobile quarterback like Daniel Jones may do the trick. Things are changing in the NFL, and more and more teams are utilizing a QB that can do it in the air and on the ground. This is the main reason I let out a sigh of relief after Tom Brady announced his retirement.

There is no more staying in the pocket. Most teams have adapted, and this past season the Bucs fell behind. Just take a look at who is in the Superbowl this year. Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts. Both QBs who can escape danger and buy time if they need to. Optimally, the Buccaneers will try for Daniel Jones, but if that doesn’t pan out (which I don’t think it will), let’s invest in the future and take Anthony Richardson.
