Can Kadarius Toney Have True Fantasy Value?

The trade from the Giants to the Chiefs may be just what Kadarius Toney needed to put up some big numbers for the remainder of the season. It may be a bit late, with the first touchdown of his NFL career coming in week 9. However, his productive week may get the ball rolling in the following weeks. If you are looking for a WR to give your team an extra boost towards the end of the season, consider picking up Kadarius Toney for your team. He is currently available in over 50% of leagues.

The Chiefs are also match-up friendly for most of the remaining weeks. Next week they play the Chargers. While not a terrible team, they are very “middle of the pack.” This game will prove (or disprove) Toney’s worth. Another big game could solidify him for at least flex range, if not WR 2.

Of course, with a top-tier QB like Pat Mahomes in the pocket, the ceiling for Kadrius Toney is exceptionally high. Granted, he did play Jacksonville, so not the strongest team, but even then, I think his ceiling significantly outweighs his floor. His fantasy numbers prior to this week could be chalked up to a nagging hamstring injury and the New York Giant’s run-first approach to games. With a Chiefs offense that likes to throw the ball whenever possible, Toney should fit into this scheme nicely.

However, the Chiefs like to keep a rotation of wideouts at their disposal. That said, if JuJu Smith-Schuster is still out due to his concussion last week against the Jags, Toney should see more targets and playing time. Even if JuJu Smith-Schuster does come back (which he should), Toney still warrants a stash in your lineup. As the season progresses, Toney’s involvement in this Chief’s offense should increase.
